Day Five | Superhero

Today’s prompt for My 30 Days is:

favorite superhero
+ why they are your favorite.

I struggled with this one, because I’m not really a superhero kind of person.

From left to right: Bubbles, Blossom, and Butt...

For lack of a better answer, I’ll have to say Buttercup of The Powerpuff Girls. The Powerpuff Girls were five-year old girls created by Professor Utonium, who accidentally added “Chemical X” into the mixture, which gave them their superpowers. While Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup dealt with normal issues that children face, like loose teeth, going to school, bathing and hygiene, they also used their superpowers to defend their town from monsters and villains. It was a pretty hilarious cartoon, with lots of pop-culture references

I came across this show when it was first run, and I immediately identified with Buttercup because out of her three sisters, she was the one who wasn’t so sweet, nice and girly. She had short black hair, was a bit spicy, and possessed somewhat of a mean streak. She had a short temper and was stubborn and aggressive.

But was also very protective of her sisters. And more endearingly, in one episode they showed that she was attached to a blanket that she would hug and which would give her the confidence to be a better fighter. Adorable!

Do you have a favorite superhero?
